Read this Book! Book! Book! in your library
Book! Book! Book! by Deborah Bruss, illustrated by Tiphanie Beeke; published by Arthur A. Levine Books, an imprint of Scholastic, New York; 2001.
Hen and her friends are lonely when the children go back to school. The animals head into town to find something to do and stop at the library because of all the “happy faces” they see leaving the building. They have no luck until Hen asks the librarian for “book book book.” The bright yellow end pages signal a bright, happy story and Beeke’s watercolor and acrylic illustrations support the story in their child-like images.
I would use this book in storytelling as a way to introduce youngsters to the library, perhaps as a visit to elementary schools to introduce myself (and the public library) to the children.
